I flew to LA for the $1K 8-Game Event (which I happened to free-roll thanx to friends that are bad at the maths).

577 Players Started the day at the DeepStack event at the Bicycle Casino in LA back in the Spring. We played down to 18. I ended the day as Chipleader.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — More than six months later, I’m ready to play another tournament for no small amount of money.  Truth be told, I feel really good about this one.  So good, that I’m still awake five hours before it starts.  If you’re bad at math, or history, or just love to gamble… drop me a line and get in on this one.  $25 for 1%.

Worst case scenario, you get a sick sweat while I play for a share of a $250,000 Guaranteed prize pool.  Best case: we all make (a lot of) money.

• 30,000 Chips to Start
• 50 Minute Levels.
• Re-entry allowed for first four levels.  (Trav is only firing one bullet at this one, folx).

I’ve been playing in the Battle of the Blogger Tournaments 5 (BBT5) on Full Tilt Poker, thanx to a generous invitation from Sir @AlCantHang.

I’m honored to be one of the 100 or so folx invited, along side with @_Otis_, @Change100, @RealDawnSummers, @MicheleLewis, @WriterJen… WSOP Main Event Final Tablists @LeeChilds and Jim McManus are also on the roster… and then there’s this donkey… me.

Super cool.  Thank you again to Al and to Tilt for such a fun tournament!  The final Invitational event is Sunday at 7PM Eastern – I’ll be playing as USAF_Trevor, looking for my 4th Final Table in 6 weeks!

$1/$2 NL at Harrah's Resort

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ– Three @HarrahsResort $1/$2 NL tables still standing at 4am on a Thursday morning. As I join the table, I notice the three seat chk/call his $45 stack and table QJo, board is A86 32r. The eight has top set, begins to ridicule his call. Eight’s cohort is quick to correct this faux pas, we all proceed to play poker.

An hour has gone by, I gladly stacked the eight when I over-played TPGK on a draw-heavy board and he turned out to be drawing to a boat w/ bottom-two. No worries, I dink trips on the turn and he’s drawing dead. Stop berating the fish, mother ducker.

He and his buddy leave, the three seat has since re-bought, but it is prevalent that he’s just here to splash around and have fun. He keeps mucking his BB in un-raised pots, etc. No clue. Super nice guy, but no clue.

He’s grown tired of our company, but doesn’t want to just pick up and go. He says, “Dealer, I don’t normally do this, but…”

Stands up, takes his $91 or so in reds and whites, and adds them to the $85ish that the five seat has in front of him. They’ve been playing together for a few hours, but it’s obvious that they’d never met before this session.

I’ve seen people give away chips drawing stone-dead or damned near… but this one was new to me.

Nice guy, hope he had fun.

$1,000,000 Turbo Takedown

The @PokerStars $1,000,000 Turbo Takedown is kind enough to save me a seat.  It’s 3,000 FPPs to play, but I played a 600 FPP SNG, won a seat.

1st place is $60,000 AND an Audi TT.  Keep the money, I really just want the car.

5,000 places paid when it’s all said and done.  For those that put up the big bucks (and $20 here and $40 there) so I could play in the @LAPokerClassic 8-Game, you’re free-rolling a stake in this… half of the LAPC deal.  Once again, I’m keeping the car.

When holding a pocket pair in NLHE, a rivered set that fills a flush or straight, is always facing said draw.

If Brian’s tried to teach me one thing, it’s patience. He’s also known to say “you can’t win a multi in the first level.” Not sure if it’s an original, but it’s certainly true. About to shut down the computer and head to @BorgataPoker for their $100+$20 ($15K Gtd) at 11am.

Commerce Casino

COMMERCE, CA — The dealers at the @CommerceCasino have witnessed more than their fair share of bad beats at the poker table.  For the most part, I thought I had heard it all.  We caught a short break the other night whilst waiting for the floorman to fill a few seats, so our dealer, Hamik, shared his favorite story.

The Game was beeg.  I dunno for sure, mah-ybe $10/$20, $20/$40 NL.  This player was losing, and losing uh-lot.  As I was coming into the table, he re-bought short for $400.  My fee-irst hend, he gets all his money in, four or five pee-puhl call him, he wins.  It goes on like this for my entire down at the table.

On my last hand, as I’m about to pushed, he has $20,000 in front of him.  From $400.  Ze flop, it is 744.  There is beeg rates and re-rates befur the flop, and next thing you know, he has his whole twendee thousand in the pot.  From $400, he’s looking to have $40,000 in what?  30, mah-ybe 40 minutes?

He shows his 77 for the full house.  The other guy, he show AQ.  He was bluffing.  Turn, Queen.

And we all know how the story ends.

So, next time you think you took a bad beat, remember Hamik’s story.
